B12 injections


Naturopathic doctors are trained to administer intramuscular vitamin B12 injections.  Many individuals, particularly vegetarians, vegans, and the elderly can be low in vitamin B12 and sometimes, oral supplementation may be ineffective if one cannot absorb the B12 from the digestive tract (low stomach acid, lots of digestive issues that result in malabsorption of nutrients, etc).  Sublingual supplements are ideal but for those individuals who are very low, intramuscular injections can help boost vitamin B12 levels.  Low levels of the vitamin can result in fatigue, numbness and tingling and nerve degeneration in the long-term.

Some benefits of vitamin B12 injections are having more energy and improved mood and it may improve nerve-related muscle pain.


Adrenal Support Injections


Adrenal support injections are designed to support you and give you an energy boost while you work with a naturopathic doctor or healthcare practitioner to restore your adrenal health.  Periods of stress affect our adrenal glands as they promote an increase in production of epinephrine and cortisol at the expense of reducing sex hormone production.  When there has been exposure to chronic, long-term stress, cortisol output may not be able to keep up or our body increases its metabolism to try and get rid of the excess.  This can lead to someone feeling tired all day, low motivation to get things done and feeling unwell.

Adrenal imbalances can affect sleep, appetite, sex drive, menstrual cycles in females, bone health, and, immune function to name a few areas.  These injections have vitamin B1, folic acid, vitamin B6, B12, AMP, biotin, and chromium so they can support nerve health, methylation, address inflammation, and support blood sugar balance.


Lipotropic Injections


These injections are designed to help with fat loss or fat mobilization as they contain choline, inositol, and methionine (MIC).  Choline has been shown to play a role in decreasing fatty acid synthase (an enzyme involved in fat synthesis), and, increasing carnitine palmitoyl-transferase-1 (an enzyme involved in fat breakdown) in the liver[1].  It also supports glutathione antioxidant activity [1].  This has implicated it being useful in fatty liver to help with mobilizing fat.  There was another study that was done which involved supplementing with choline in female athletes and a reduction in body mass was seen [2].

Inositol is considered a B-vitamin and plays a role in helping to maintain blood sugar balance by improving insulin resistance (which can help to reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes).  It also has been shown to lower cholesterol and help with fat transport in the blood.  B12 and chromium are also added to the lipotropic injections.
